Ribbon cutting for new Administration building on Sunday

The Newton County Board of Commissioners will hold a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the new Newton County Administration Building on Sunday.

The program will begin at 2 p.m., Oct. 28 in front of the new building located at the intersection of Usher Street and Pace Street in downtown Covington. Lt. Governor Casey Cagle will be the key note speaker.

A welcome and introduction of Cagle will be given by Newton County Chairman Aaron Varner. Pastor David Payne of The Church of Covington will give the invocation.

A presentation of the American Flag will be made by the Sgt. Newton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Regent Becky Ramsey.

The presentation of Colors and Flag Raising will be done by the Georgia Army National Guard, B Company 1st Battalion (Mechanized) 121st Infantry. The Community Band, led by band director T.K. Adams, will then play the National Anthem.

Following the ribbon cutting there will be a tour of the building.
