An unidentified man held up a Pizza Hut employee Monday morning outside the restaurant located on U.S. Highway 278.

The victims, a shift manager and her mother, were on their way to make a bank deposit for the restaurant at approximately 10 a.m. when they were approached by a black man wearing a gray jump suit.

The man reportedly pulled a handgun on the women and forced them to the ground near their car. During the exchange, he allegedly told the women repeatedly not to look at him.

The gunman was described as having a stocky build and standing between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall.

Once the women were on the ground, the gunman reportedly took the deposit bag and ran toward Sharp Stadium.

The suspect's hat, tan with a brown bill, reportedly fell off his head as he fled the scene.

CPD Detective DJ Seals said the hat would be examined by the department's expert to determine if any physical evidence can by lifted.

If any hair or skin is found on the hat, it will be sent to the GBI for further testing, Seals said.

The gunman also dropped the money as he ran away but stopped to retrieve the cash. The witnesses said the man also wore a brown doo-rag.

Seals said it was important for businesses to vary the times when money is taken for deposit.
