Paul H. Gourley Sr., 65, of Covington, died Aug. 16 at his home. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, cooking and reading. He loved his family, nature and sports, especially the Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. Gourley was retired from Ford Motor Company following 33 years of service, was a member of United Auto Workers and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by parents Richard and Alma Samantha Octavia Bennett Gourley and brothers Ted Gourley and James Gourley.
Surviving are wife Sylvia Gourley; daughters and son-in-law Sophia Veanna and Mike Beale, Gretchen Priscilla Gourley, all of Covington; son and daughter-in-law Paul H. Jr. and Leigh Gourley of Social Circle; grandchildren Zoe Faith Gourley, Sage Hope Gourley; sister and brother-in-law Priscilla Oline and Robert Miller; sister-in-law Josephine Gourley, all of Conyers; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 19 at Eastridge Community Church with the Rev. David Clark officiating. Interment followed in Shiloh Cemetery, Almon. Donations toward final expenses would be appreciated by the family.
