Michael W. and Christy A. Lassiter announce the engagement of their daughter Valerie Anne-Marie Paluha (daughter of the late Charles W. Paluha III) of Covington to Patrick Walter Thompson Jr. of Statesboro, son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick W. Thompson Sr. and Ms. Teresa Braddock.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Paluha, Ms. Susan L. Sutton and the late Mr. Leonard S. Sutton. She received a B.B.A. in marketing and a minor in public relations from Georgia Southern University, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.

She is currently employed with First Southern National Bank of Statesboro.

 The future groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Thompson, Ms. Winny McNeal and the late Mr. Bill McNeal.

He received a B.A. in history and a minor in business from Georgia Southern University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

He is currently employed with Loop-Loc LLC as a sales representative.

The couple plan to wed Sept. 1 at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
