Mrs. Montine K. Ellington, 88, of Oxford, died March 22 at Abbey Hospice, Social Circle. The daughter of the late Robert and Eula Steele Kitchens, she was born in Newton County and was the widow of Jesse Harold Ellington. Mrs. Ellington was a member of Covington First Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and baking tea cakes and was an avid Braves baseball fan.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Patsy and Don Russell of Oxford; grandchildren David and Dr. Anne Russell of Asheville, N.C., Donna and Jack Persinger of Oxford, Donald and Kara Russell of Macon; great-grandchildren Dylan Westbrook, Colby Westbrook, Matthew Russell, Katie Russell, Josh Russell; sisters Eva Strickland of Tucker, Mogene Cawthon of Covington; brother and sister-in-law Julian and Johnnnie Kathryn Kitchens of Oxford; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held March 24 at the Access Road chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with the Rev. Len Strozier officiating. Interment followed at Ellington Family Cemetery, Oxford. Donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Montine K. Ellington to Ellington Cemetery Fund at Newton Federal.
