Lucius G. Carney, 82 passed away Sept. 1. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Carney was the son of the late Etta Scruggs and Gordon Carney. He was a retired teacher who taught eighth grade in both Clarke and Oglethorpe counties, and was a member of Hull Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Anglin Carney; children, Gary Alan Carney (Kathy) and Sandra Spears (Buz); brother, Hoyt Carney and granddaughter, Erica Carney.

A private family service was held Sept. 2.
