Louise White Varenkamp

Louise White Varenkamp, age 85, of Covington died Saturday, Sept. 15 at Sacred Journey Hospice. She was born in Atlanta to the late Earnest and Nellie Grace (Rutledge) White. Mrs. Varenkamp was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Varenkamp, her infant daughter, Barbara Varenkamp, sisters, Evelyn Mott and Dorris Martin and brother, Charles White. She retired from the Atlanta Postal Data Center in Atlanta in 1975. Mrs. Varenkamp was a longtime resident of Jackson Lake in Newton County as well as Atlanta and Bradenton, Fla.

Mrs. Varenkamp is survived by daughter and son-in-law Delores and Jack Candy of McDonough; grandsons Joshua Sledge, of Atlanta, Jeremy Sledge and his wife Natalie of McDonough; great-grandsons John Ethan Sledge, Hank Sledge, Neil Sledge, all of McDonough; brother-in-law DA Martin; sisters-in-law Ina Lou Varenkemp, Betty Lou Hale and Tommie White; cousins Anne Ruffner, Frank White, Guy White, Watson White and Ruth Williams; several nieces and nephews, Michael Mott and his wife Barbara and family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday Sept. 18 at the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Dudley Rose officiating. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Louise Varenkamp to Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Drive, McDonough, Ga. 30253 or to the American Cancer Society.
