Loganville Greenjackets win state title

MONROE - The Loganville Greenjackets won the USSSA baseball boys 9 and under AA state championship June 22 at Criswell Park.

As a result, they have qualified to play in the USSSA 9U AA World Series in Pace, Fla., during the week of July 13-19.
The Greenjackets (28-11 overall) went 3-1, scoring 35 runs while allowing 23. They have won 17 of their last 18 games, winning four consecutive tournaments in a row.

Managed by former Augusta Greenjackets minor league player Rodney Harrison, the Loganville Greenjackets are a first-year team of players mainly from the Loganville, Monroe and Snellville areas.

Assistant coaches include Jeff Buice, Vince Kirkland, Rob Smithson and Brad Witcher.

"We (have) a team of kids who just love to play the game," Witcher said. "These guys have given everything this season and it shows."
Team members include Nick Barnes, Ty Buice, Levi Byrd, Jake Campbell, Morgan Copeland, Garrett Harrison, Tyler Kirkland, Gunner Logan, Rhett Mixon, Ryan Smithson and Bay Witcher (see team photo on 2B).
