Joseph Broughton Kimball

Mr. Joseph Broughton (Bro) Kimball died Aug. 12. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Olden) Kimball, he was born in 1947 in Covington. He was preceded in death by daughter Jermakelyn. Mr. Kimball joined Grace United Methodist Church at an early age. He attended R.L. Cousins High School and graduated in 1965. He graduated from Clark College, Atlanta, in 1969 with a degree in history. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma. He worked faithfully at AT&T for over 29 years before retiring. He is a lifelong member of the Communications Workers of America. Mr. Kimball was a dedicated and supportive husband and father. He did all that he could to ensure his family's needs were always met. An avid sportsman, Mr. Kimball participated on many recreational teams. He loved baseball, cooking on the grill, music and travel. He was a TV fan and began and ended his day with a remote in his hand.

Surviving are wife of 40 years Mrs. Julia Wilkes Kimball; children and spouse Mr. and Mrs. Darryl (Jocelyn) Dawson, Mr. Joseph T. Kimball, all of Covington; granddaughters Aerial and Amber Dawson; sisters Ms. Mary Addie Kimball, Mr. and Mrs. Prentist (Hattie) Henderson; brother the Rev. and Mrs. Thomas (Connis) Kimball; sisters-in-law Mrs. Annie Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Gloria) Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron (Lillie) Buggs, Mr. and Mrs. Simon (Christine) Perryman, Mrs. Betty Gantt; brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Simon (Diane) Wilkes; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Aug. 16 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Theodis Bell Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Westside Cemetery.
