Maj. John S. Wright, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), 83, of Oxford, died Nov. 28. The son of the late Felix H. Wright Sr. and Verda Mae Crawford Wright, he was born in 1924 in Newton County. Maj. Wright was retired from the U.S. Air Force, was a certified real estate appraiser and owned and operated Wright Realty Co. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by wife Barbara Dahl Wright.

Surviving are sister Mrs. Florence Wright Prescott of Covington; nieces Felicia Wright Lewis, Libby Wright Carter, Susie Wright Fugate, Betsy Jenkins, Melissa Brake; nephews Pete Wright, Andy Wright; numerous other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 30, in the chapel of Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home with Dr. Alan Posey officiating. Interment will follow in Covington City Cemetery.
