Jerry Sorrow, 61, of Covington, died Nov. 27 at Newton Medical Center. Mr. Sorrow was a minister of the gospel for over 30 years as an evangelist, music evangelist and pastor. He was a gifted singer and songwriter and a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Sorrow enjoyed working as a bus driver for the Newton County School System after he retired from the ministry. Many children riding his bus called him Mr. Happy.

Surviving are wife Carol Sorrow of Covington; daughter and son-in-law Lorrie and Kurt Smith of Adel; sons and daughters-in-law Donnie and Janet Sorrow of Oxford, David and Rachel Sorrow of Covington; grandchildren Lennie Sorrow, Nicole Smith, Trey Sorrow, Owen Smith, Sera Sorrow; brothers and sisters-in-law Dale and Carolyn Sorrow of Forsyth, Frankie and Kaye Sorrow of Macon.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 30, at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Brumlow and the Rev. Donnie Sorrow officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Forest Memorial Park, Jasper.
