Mrs. Janice McClung Fersh, 61, of Lithonia, died of cancer Dec. 7 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Atlanta. The daughter of the late Alton and Sarah (Burnett) McClung, she was born in 1946 in Atlanta. She was a graduate of Forest Park High School and the University of Georgia. She was an active member of the high school band and the Dixie Redocat Band. She continued her love of music as a member of the Covington-Conyers Community Orchestra and the St. Pius X church choir and brass ensemble. Mrs. Fersh loved animals and shared her home with her "purrherd" of three cats. He most recent job was receptionist at the North Hills Animal Hospital.

Surviving are son Charles Fersh of Chamblee; aunt Polly Lombardi; cousins Donna Lombardi and Paula Lombardi, all of the Charlotte, N.C. area; many extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends at Wheeler Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Conyers. Burial of her ashes will be at Forest Hills Memorial Garden, Forest Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 760 Pollard Blvd. SW, Atlanta, 30315, or PAWS Atlanta, 5287 Covington Highway, Decatur, 30035.
