James M. Barnett Sr., 81, of Conyers, died March 3 at Rockdale Medical Center. Born in Spalding County, Mr. Barnett retired from Ford Motor Company. He faithfully attended Conyers Apostolic Church and enjoyed working in his gardens and working on old cars and tractors. He was blessed with many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Barnett is preceded in death by son James M. Barnett Jr. and grandson Miles Barnett.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Margaret and Roy Cartledge of Covington, Teresa and Eddie Johnson of Oxford, Annie and Bill Daniel of Conyers; sons and daughters-in-law Jackie and Julie Donaldson of Oxford, Michael and Angela Donaldson of Conyers, Freddie Barnett of Covington, Tommy and Sandy Barnett of White Plains, Jimmy and Lynda Barnett of Covington; special friend Margaret Adams of Walnut Grove; 29 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters and brothers-in-law Daisy and Newton Allen of Columbus, Frances and Ralph Hilliard of Oxford, Rosetta and Rex Lane of Covington, Patricia and Aubrey Ballard of Newborn, Virginia Cruse of Griffin; brothers and sisters-in-law George and Vena Lou Barnett of Covington, Hoyt and Helen Barnett of Covington, Frank Teal of Oxnard, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 6, at 1 p.m. at Conyers Apostolic Church with the Rev. Jesse Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan, Access Road location, today, March 5, from noon to 9 p.m. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to EJM Memorial Fund, Conyers Apostolic Church, 1882 Irwin Bridge Road, Conyers, GA 30012.
