James L. Hogan, 79, of Oxford, died Nov. 26 at Atlanta Medical Center. The son of the late H. Grady Sr. and Mary Clair Hawk Hogan, he was born in Morgan County. A veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Hogan retired from Kroger as produce manager after 30 years of service. He was a member of Covington First Baptist Church, Newton Hayriders Square Dance Club, Newton Medical Center Auxiliary and Lawrenceville Masonic Lodge where he was presented a 50-year-membership certificate.

Surviving are brothers and sister-in-law H. Grady Hogan Jr. of Covington and Bobby J. and Rachael Hogan of Thomaston; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ed and Elaine E. Taylor of Covington; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with the Rev. Len Strozier officiating. Interment will follow in Madison City Cemetery, Madison. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 28. Flowers are accepted or donations may be sent to Newton Medical Center Auxiliary, 5126 Hospital Dr., Covington, 30014, or the charity of your choice.
