Ina McIntosh Davenport

Mrs. Ina McIntosh Davenport, 87, of Covington, died Sept. 28. The daughter of the late William and Mae Higginbotham McIntosh, she was born in 1920.

Mrs. Davenport was a member of Alcovy United Methodist Church. Not the oldest living member, she, however, had attended the church longer than any other member. Mrs. Davenport was also an active choir member, and the church's fellowship hall was named in her honor. She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her flower gardens and yard.

Mrs. Davenport had no children of her own but was like a mother to numerous young people. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Tate Davenport.

Surviving are sister Mrs. Dorothy Hooten of Covington, brother Mr. Alex McIntosh of Warner Robins, several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 30, in the chapel of Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry McIntosh and the Rev. Dan Dixon officiating.

Interment will follow in the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
