Mr. Herbert Newberry Jr., 53, of Milledgeville, formerly of Newton County, died March 9. Mr. Newberry was a member of Mansfield Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Neton County High School, Truiett McConnell College and Georgia Southern College. He was an educator and taught at Sparta, Wdley and Baldwin County schools. Mr. Newberry was preceded in death by father Herbert Newberry Sr.

Surviving are mother Alice Newberry; sister Debbie Amason; brothers James Newberry, Michael and Lynn Newberry, all of Milledgeville; nephews Christopher Newberry, Clint Amason, Andrew Newberry, Ethan Amason; aunt and uncle Thomas and Nora Barker; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 12, in the chapel of Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Sorrels officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Newborn. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
