Several men were formally indicted by the grand jury last Friday on charges relating to two separate shooting deaths.
In connection with the shooting death of Kawasikis Shawnte Ricks, Tervarius White, 16; Clarence Benton, 17; Terrence Reid, 21; and Brandon Hudnal, 20, were all charge with murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Though White is only 16 years old, he has been charged as an adult.
In the death of Paul Larson, Christopher Masiello, 30, was charged with murder, aggravated assault, firearm discharge while under the influence of alcohol and firearm or knife possession during a crime.
Ricks, 29, was reportedly killed after being double crossed during a drug deal. Ricks and another man thought they were going to buy 20 pounds of marijuana from a group of five men, but the would-be dealers never intended to sell any drugs. Instead, they reportedly planed on robbing the two men. White allegedly shot Ricks in the back with a shotgun as the man tried to flee the scene.
Masiello reportedly shot and killed his father-in-law, Larson, 56, after an argument. Reports indicated Masiello to under the influence of alcohol and marijuana when he shot Larsen several times. A family member called the authorities, but the victim was dead from his wounds by time medical first responders arrived, according to the incident report. Masiello was arrested at the scene of the crime.
White, Benton, Reid, Hudnal and Masiello could all appear in court for pre-trail hearings as early as the end of the month.
