Grady Eugene (Bud) Hodges, 73, of Mansfield, died peacefully at his home Oct. 3.
The son of the late Willie Eugene and Belle Thompson Hodges, he was born in Newton County and was one of the last full-time farmers in the county. Mr. Hodges was an avid hunter as well as a baseball and softball coach.
He was an active member and worker at Sewell Methodist Church, Morgan County, where he served as Sunday school superintendent.
Surviving are wife Sandra Oglesby Hodges of Mansfield; daughters and sons-in-law Dr. Angela Hodges and Bo Thompson, Alonda and Trey Bailey, all of Social Circle; sons and daughter-in-law Tim Hodges and Audrey Green of Social Circle, Grady (Tommy) Hodges of Mansfield; grandchildren Anna Elizabeth Bailey, Carolyn Green, Christine Butler; great-grandchild Camden Green; sisters Verna Almand of Nahunta, Lois Hamrick of Stone Mountain; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 5, in the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, with the Rev. Richard Harris and the Rev. Danny Standard officiating. Interment will follow in Sewell Methodist Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Sewell Building fund, care of Sara Jones, 374 GA. Highway 229, Social Circle, 30025.
