The Newton Campus of Georgia Perimeter College welcomes county residents to attend its first official Community Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 19.
Greg McLean's Dixie Land jazz band will entertain visitors. Guests also can feast on barbecue and watermelon.
"This will be a great opportunity for the community in our service area to come check out our campus," said Chief Operating Officer for the Newton Campus Dr. Sallie Paschal. "Whether you are a prospective student or know one, or are just curious about our new digs, please come enjoy this evening with us."
Students and staff members will lead visitors on guided tours of the new facility, which opened its doors on June 4 and welcomed 1,275 students.
The Newton Campus - off of Ga. Highway 11 S - consists of one 104,000 square-foot building for instruction, study and administrative space. In August, construction will begin on a second building that will house the campus student center and library.
GPC officials will also be on hand from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 31 at the Newton County Library to answer questions about the new campus and the services it offers.
