Geneva Kitchens Hamlin, 74, of Stark Community of Butts County, died Aug. 24 at Sacred Journey Hospice, McDonough. The daughter of the late Marvin and Addonna Coady Kitchens, she was born in Newton County in 1934. She was preceded in death in 2006 by her husband of 49 years Robert Barron Hamlin. Mrs. Hamlin had been a nurse at the Children's Hospital, Greenville, S.C., the Scottish Rite Hospital in Decatur and the Griffin GA Hospital. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Surviving are children Mike and Nancy Hamlin, Laurie and Jeff Maddox; grandchildren Meleeah and Katie Maddox, Leeah, Barron and Matthew Hamlin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Fred and Gwen Hamlin, Aubrey and Susie Hamlin, Sarah Hamlin; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother and sister Marion Kitchens and Boots Conn.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 27, in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with the Rev. Lane Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
