Frederick Clark Helms

Mr. Frederick Clark Helms, 76, of Covington died Dec. 6 at his home. The son of the late Luther Lee Helms and Bessie Ophelia Long Helms, he was born in Gadsden, Ala. Mr. Helms was an avid sports and Atlanta Braves fan and played football while in high school and college. Mr. Helms proudly served his county in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Korea during World War II. He loved the outdoors and was a very hard worker. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years Elaine B. Helms of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law Patty and Tony Walden of Covington, Penny and Kurt Fiddler of Dacula, Peggy and Greg Dunlop of New Brunswick, Canada; brothers and sisters-in-law Marilyn Ford of Hokes Bluff, Ala., Buddy and Nell Helms of Gulfport, Miss., Tab and Shirley Helms of Anniston, Ala., Shirley Helms of Va.; grandchildren Cohen and Ava Kitchens, Hudson Fiddler; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 9 in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Greg Dunlap officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Praise Center Cemetery in Mansfield. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Abbey Hospice, 215 Azalea Court, Social Circle 30018.
