The Rev. Frank Moody Jr., 86, of Covington, died Oct. 16. The son of the late Frank Sr. and Imogene Strickland Moody, he was a retired Baptist minister. The Rev. Moody had been a resident of Newton County for 61 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II in Germany and later called back to serve in the Army Reserves in Korea. He later worked in the Civil Service in the Minute Man Missile Program in quality assurance control. The Rev. Moody was a member of the First Baptist Church and served as pastor for churches in Georgia, North Carolina, Mississippi, Missouri and Montana.

Surviving are wife of 61 years Martha King Moody; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Terrell Wingfield, of Covington; son and daughter-in-law John Frank and Teresa Moody of Branson, Mo.; grandchildren Kevin Wingfield, Elizabeth Eldred, Amanda Grimes; great-grandchildren Julia Grimes, Geoffrey Grimes, William Eldred; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 19, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Len Strozier officiating.
