Mr. Frank Davis, 79, of Covington died Aug. 16. Son of the late Corry S. and Addie Bell Gaston Davis, he was born Feb. 10, 1929 in Newton County. Mr. Davis was raised in Jasper County, where he worked most of his life as a farmer; he loved to hunt and fish and especially enjoyed rabbit hunting. He was a lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church and is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Melvin Stines of Jennings, Fla; brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Shirley Davis of Covington; sister-in-laws, Joanne Davis Kurz of Monticello and Faye Davis of Mansfield; aunt, Angie Davis of Covington; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18 from the Chapel of Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Sorrells officiating and interment following at Davis Cemetery in Newborn. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today, Aug. 17 at the funeral home.
