Frances Jones Carter, 81, of Oxford, died May 22. The daughter of the late Harvey Key and Pauline Lynch Jones, she was born in Walton County. She had been a resident of Covington and Oxford since 1969 and retired from Bell South with 25 years of service. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed being outdoors, working in her yard and gardening. She is preceded in death by husband Roy Winston Carter and sister Mary Elise Jackson.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Cindy Bates-Loveland and James Andrew Loveland of Oxford; sister Elizabeth Whiddon-McRae of Neptune Beach, Fla.; nephew Ray Jackson of Social Circle.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
