Ernest Lamar (Pete) Hurst

Mr. Ernest Lamar (Pete) Hurst died Aug. 30. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Son) Hurst, he was born in 1934 in Newton County. Mr. Hurst was a hard working man and loved to go fishing until his health failed. He was preceded in death by wife Mrs. Ruth Woods Hurst and two sons.

Surviving are sons Mr. Herman Woods, Mr. Lonnie Wayne Hurst, Mr. Stanley Hurst, Mr. Donnie Hurst, Mr. Mark Hurst, Mr. Ernest Johnson, Mr. Walter Lee Johnson; daughter Ms. Ann Johnson; grandchildren Mr. Lonnie Wayne Hurst Jr., Ms. LaShuna Hurst, Mr. Tony Hurst, Ms. India Hurst, Mr. Mark Hurst Jr.; a host of other grandchildren and gret-grandchildren; sisters Mr. and Mrs. Riley (Sarah) Hardeman, Mrs. Sadie Hurst; brother the Rev. and Mrs. Charlie (Johnnie Mae) Johnson; sister-in-law Mrs. Margaret Hurst; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sept. 5 at West Street Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Mencer Reed officiating. Interment followed at Early Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
