Mother Eliza Mae Coleman Turk died Sept. 1 in Newton County. The daughter of the late Roy and Mattie (Hicks) Coleman, she was born in 1919 in Jasper County. Mrs. Turk was often called "Lisa Mae," "Mae" and "Ma" by her family and friends and was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church which always had a special place in her heart and life. She attended school there and worked faithfully there from an early age serving as secretary for over 50 years and originating the Shiloh Burial Society. During her life, Mrs. Turk touched the lives of her family and friends with a loving and giving heart. She lived by faith daily and enjoyed a simple life, giving her all to Shiloh, cooking custards to give away, preparing Brunswick stew with Jack, fishing with Cora and Ellen, traveling with Willie Bell and the Friendly Twelve Club and riding with "Lip," David, Ashley and Riley while enjoying the sights and calming her great-grandson Patrick. She was preceded in death by husband Willie Frank Turk and son Frank Turk.

Surviving are sons Roy (Henrietta) Fears of Rutledge, Clyde (Deborah) Turk of Covington, Charles Turk of Lithonia, Michael Turk of Covington; daughters Willia Lue (Leroy) Butler of Atlanta, Shirley (David James) Nolley of Covington, Elaine (Jarvis) Reynolds of Decatur, Dorothy (Grady) Johnson of Covington; grandchildren Tammy (Dexter) Nolley, Lajuan Nolley, Marissa Johnson, Ashley Nolley, Angela Nolley, Angela (Larry) Marks, Lisa Aikens, Casandra Turk, Kapathia Turk, Kimberly Turk, Sammy Aikens, Wayne Turk, Shena Turk, Flotacia McKnight, Carole Turk, Miracle Turk, Miriah Turk, all of Covington, Shameda (Shannon) Allen of Indianapolis, Ind, Jason Turk and Jaryn Reynolds, both of Decatur; great-grandchildren Raphel Nolley, Boyce Nolley, Patrick Nolley-Willis; 27 other great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Evelyn Turk of Ellenwood; devoted family and friends Cora Mitchell, Shirlene Harris, Joann Aikens Turk; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Sept. 5, at Shiloh Baptist Church, Farrar, with the Rev. Jimmy Horton, Pastor C.L. Bryant, Evangelist Melissa Horton and the Rev. Oscar Crawford officiating. Interment followed at Oxford Historical Cemetery.
