E.J. Carter, 81, of Social Circle, died April 15. The son of the late Eldon Carter and Viola Hall Carter, he was born in Marion County, Ala., in 1927. He was preceded in death by brothers Houston Carter and Wylie Harmon.

Surviving are wife Dena Carter; daughters Jennifer Carter and Sharon Mann; sons and daughters-in-law Sam and Amber Mann, Johnny and Michelle Mann, Danny Baker, Ricky Baker, Terry Baker, Robert Baker; sisters and brothers-in-law Jannie and Bob Peterson, Joe and Peggy Powell; special sister-in-law Peggy Ray; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. April 17 at Willow Springs Church with the Rev. J.C. Studdard and the Rev. Clint Powell officiating. Interment followed at Willow Springs Church Cemetery.
