Edward R. King, 90, of Cupertino, Calif., formerly of Covington, died Sept. 27. He was born in Henry County and was a World War II Navy veteran. He settled in California after the war and was one of the first 100 employees at Hewlett Packard Col., retiring in 1988 after 33 years.

Surviving are wife of 71 years Foy B. King; son Edward B. King of Twain Harte, Calif.; sister Barbara Johnson of Covington; granddaughters Michelle Taylor of LaHonda, Calif., Annette Beyer of Discovery Bay, Calif.; great-grandson Justin and Trevor Taylor, Nicholas and Clarke Beyer.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church, Fremont Avenue, Sunnyvale, Calif., at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 17. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent, in his name, to the above church or to a local hospice care facility.
