The Eastside boys basketball team has started off 3-0 thus far this season, something the Eagles have failed to do over the past several years.

On Saturday, Eastside head coach Michael Gerald and his squad walked away with the Pope Tournament Championship, setting the tone for what should be an exciting year of basketball.

Last week the Eagles defeated Brookwood 49-46 before beating Chapel Hill 66-62 in a thrilling overtime victory. During the finale, Eastside topped North Springs 57-53 to capture the title.

Artis Clanton led the way for the Eagles, averaging 17.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.

Cameron Robinson averaged 13.3 points, while Neil Latimore added 8.7 points and 2.0 steals per game. Rashad Hill led the Eagles with 12 assists during the three-game tournament.
