East Metro Baseball League now holding 2008 signups

The East Metro Baseball League (Men's Senior Baseball League) is currently seeking players for the 2008 season.

There are two leagues for ages 18 and older and 35+. Practices have already started, but all are still welcome to join as the teams are still being formed.

The season kickoff tournament begins March 28. All games are played at two premier ball parks - Field of Dreams (1355 Sigman Rd.) and Newton High School.

PREP BASKETBALL

The Eastside varsity basketball squads each one won, lost won against Habersham Central in non-region play Friday night.

In the boys game, the Eagles (5-4 overall, 1-2 Region 8-AAAA, Sub-region B) won in convincing fashion, 59-30.

Neil Latimore led Eastside with 13 points, while Artis Clanton chipped in with 11.

Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles (5-7, 0-3) fell by just six points, 60-54.

Eastside's Raven Williams and Ashley Burtts each scored 16 points apiece to lead the team. Jade Cook added 15 points.
