Mrs. Denise B. Vining, 53, of Martinez, loving wife of H. Hampton Vining Jr. entered into rest on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Trinity Hospice of Augusta.

An expectant grandmother, devoted mother and homemaker, Mrs. Vining was a 1976 graduate of the University of Georgia with a major in early childhood education. She was a Sustaining Member of the Junior League of Augusta, a member of the Columbia County Juvenile Court Citizen Panel Foster Care Review and The Soil Sisters Garden Club as well as a member of the Columbia County Growth Management Plan Citizen Advisory Committee and served on the Commission Chairman's Residential Council. Mrs. Vining was an animal lover, especially of dogs. Her family always had at least one. She also loved wild birds and covered her backyard with bird feeders and houses.

Surviving are husband H. Hampton Vining Jr.; son Wesley Hampton Vining of Martinez; daughters Kristen Michele Vining of Martinez, Margaret Elizabeth Vining Nevils and husband Richard of Grovetown; sister-in-law Linda Brady-Williams and husband Larry of Fuquay Varina, N.C.; nephews Charles C. Brady III and wife Alisha of Chesterfield, Va., Andrew Glenn Brady and wife Jenny of Healy, Ark.; great-nephews, Charles C. Brady IV, Andrew Glenn Brady Jr., Matthew Thomas Brady, Timothy Ryan Brady; great-niece Clara June Brady; and cousin Elaine B. Carsel. Mrs. Vining was preceded in death by her parents Charles C. Brady Sr. and Pearl Hardy Brady and brother Charles C. Brady, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Boyd Lien officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Feb. 10 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Platt's Funeral Home on Belair Road.
