Behind everything in our world that is wrong, sinful, immoral, and evil is Satan who is the mastermind of it all. Sooner or later, we must learn to deal with him if we would have spiritual victory and spend eternity in heaven.
Satan is a diabolical fiend and villain. Originally, he led a rebellion in heaven and took one-third of the angels with him when he was cast out.
The Apostle Paul said "we are not ignorant of his devices or schemes" (2 Corinthians 2:11). Satan operates by a well-planned scheme and strategy. He is out to destroy every person. All he is looking for is a point of entry, access, or foothold in our lives. Give him an inch and he will take a mile.
For those already under his control, he merely wants to keep them there. For those who have turned their lives over to Christ, he is going to work in various ways to defeat and devour them. The Apostle Peter said: "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith" (1 Peter 5:8-9a).
Satan is like a ferocious lion, lying in wait, stalking his prey, waiting for an opportune moment to destroy them. He uses various strategies, schemes and temptations. If one does not work, he will try another angle. He is relentless in his efforts. He is a thief who has come to steal, kill and destroy.
He will even use people to do his dirty work for him.
Although the outcome of this age-old war between good and evil, God and Satan, has already been determined, the battle is still raging and you and I are caught in the crossfire. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Satan's fate has been sealed and his destiny has been determined.
Satan is the greatest terrorist on earth, looking for someone to devour, ravage, and destroy. He has nothing good in mind for you, even though he can come to you as an angel of light.
You and I have the power and resources, through Jesus Christ, to defeat Satan at every turn, foil his schemes, and frustrate his plans. If Satan has been working overtime on you, resist him and he will flee from you (James 4:7). Draw a new line. Give control of your life to Jesus Christ right now and move in a positive, new direction. Learn to deal with your adversary, the devil, and you can win over him every time.
