The 2007 B.C. Crowell Scholarship Golf Tournament begins at 10 a.m. on September 21 at the Oaks Golf Course.

Golfers from Newton County and surrounding areas are invited to participate in the tournament.

Three scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to a student from each of the local high schools - Alcovy, Eastside and Newton. The scholarship fund has a local board and is administered by The Community Foundation.

The event is currently accepting sponsorships, which will not only provide companies with an economical vehicle for advertising but also support the on-going commitment to the education of the youth in Newton County.

For a contribution of $100 that is tax deductible, the Newton Recreation Commission will make a sign with the company's name or individual's name. The sign will be placed on a green at the Oaks Golf Course. To sponsor a team of two, the fee is $150.

The registration cost is $150 per team (two-man scramble). It includes a cart, greens fee, lunch and prizes.

For additional ways to help sponsor this special event, call Newton Recreation Commission Director Tommy Hailey at (770) 786-4373 ext. 11.
