The Covington News unveiled its new Web site to an eager public Wednesday. The Web site has many new capabilities including e-mail updates three times a week and whenever there is breaking news. Readers can receive these updates by visiting www.covnews.com, clicking on the interact link on the site's navigation toolbar and going to email updates.

Visitors to the Web site can now read full-length versions of articles, just as they are published in the newspaper and can print and e-mail articles also. More of The News' articles will be published on the Web site as well.

"We wanted to give our readers an online source for information 24 hours a day, seven days a week," said Interim Publisher Phil Schroder of the new site.

The new Web site has many interactive features including blogging capabilities for registered users. The site also allows users to post comments on articles, which will be reviewed by editorial staff before publication.

The searching capabilities of the new site are also greatly improved.

Readers can now search for articles by topic and publishing date. The search capability for classifieds on the Web site is also improved.

More of The News' award winning photographs will be published on the site.

The Community Calendar will continue to be published as well and can be updated by users online.
