Mr. Charlie Eugene "Coon" Johnson died Sept. 21. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John (Hattie Clark) Johnson, he grew up in Jasper and Newton counties, later moving to Rockdale County. He was preceded in death by siblings Mr. John S. Minter, Mrs. Annie Lou Maddox, Mrs. Minnie Mae Griffin, Mrs. Sallie F. Williams, Mr. Jimmie Banks, Mr. Charles (C.B.) Banks, the Rev. Willie L. Banks and brothers-in-law Jessie and Johnnie Johnson.

Surviving are wife Mrs. Dorothy Dean Johnson; sisters Mrs. Mary Francis Victor, Mrs. Georgia Lee Gaither; sisters-in-law the Rev. Gloria Banks, Mrs. Willie Mae Johnson; brothers-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Willie C. (Tomasina) Johnson, Mr. Eliza Johnson; special nephew Mr. Johnny Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sept. 27 at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Mansfield, with the Rev. Benjamin Franklin and the Rev. Norman Smith officiating. Interment followed at Westside Cemete
