Mr. Billy Garrett, 70, of McDonough, died March 19. He was born in Rockdale County in 1937. He was a member of Snapping Shoals United Methodist Church and served on the Ola City Council. The Ola City Council met with him every afternoon behind his home under the book oak tree where they sat and enjoyed each other's company. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are wife of 38 years Joyce Garrett of McDonough; children Bobby Garrett of Oxford, Linda Halford of Monroe, Peggy Fuller of Newton County, Wayne Wilson of Douglas County, Faye Rawls of Henry County, Kaye Garrett of Cobb County, Lisa Cross of Decatur County; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Anderson, Julie Mitchell; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, March 21. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Snapping Shoals United Methodist Church, McDonough, with the Rev. Mickey Moss and the Rev. Niranjan Naronha officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
