Two visitors from South Carolina were allegedly robbed at gunpoint in the Settler's Grove area Sunday, according to a Newton County Sheriff's Office report.
The victims, who were reportedly from Charleston, S.C., were at the Covington Wal-Mart Sunday afternoon around 4:20 p.m. when they met another person they knew from South Carolina and went with him in a vehicle to Settler's Grove Road, according to NCSO spokesperson Lt. Mark Mitchell.
When they got out of the vehicle, they were reportedly robbed by two black males with handguns, who took their cell phone and a large amount of cash.
The suspects' vehicle was described as a 2001 blue Dodge Caravan, according to the report.
The case, including the motive for the robbery and what was taken, is still under investigation, Mitchell said.
