The venue for the Class AAAAAAA Elite Eight matchup between the Newton Rams (28-1) and the Tift County Blue Devils (26-2) has been set.

The game will be played Newton High's gym on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Per Georgia High School Association rules, because both teams being No. 1 seeds and region tournament champions, the coaches for both teams met at a neutral site in Macon for a coin toss to determine home court advantage.

Newton advanced to the quarterfinal round of the state tournament after notching a supsense-filled 89-83, triple overtime win against defending Class AAAAAA champion Westlake Thursday night. Meanwhile, Tift County punched its ticket by defeating Berkmar 72-55, also on Thursday night.

Newton also defeated Berkmar earlier in the season with an 84-68 win back in November during the On the Radar Hoops Showcase. Newton and Tift County's only other common opponent this season is Duluth. The Blue Devils squeaked out a 54-52 win over Duluth on Dec. 23 during the McDonalds Classic hosted by Tift, while Newton traveled to Duluth for a 68-60 win on Dec. 10.
