Regular seasons come to a close

With the end of September upon us, Newton County schools are drawing near the conclusions of their softball and volleyball seasons.

Regular seasons for both sports end this Thursday.

Alcovy will play a pair of softball contests this week, the first on the road Tuesday at Druid Hills at 5:30 p.m.

The Tigers end their week on the diamond on Thursday at home against Putnam County at 5 p.m.

Alcovy also splits away and home matches in volleyball this week.

The Tigers travel to Newton on Tuesday before hosting Forest Park on Thursday. Both games are set for 5 p.m.

The Alcovy football team travels to Luella for a road game on Friday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.

 

Eastside volleyball in action

The Eagles' varsity softball team's regular season is already complete, but Eastside will still feature a pair of home contests in volleyball and football action this week.

The varsity volleyball team travels to Lanier on Tuesday before hosting Newton on Thursday. Both matches are set to begin at 5 p.m.

The volleyball team will be on the road this Saturday against Monroe Area.

The Eastside football team plays its third consecutive game at Sharp Stadium this Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Madison County.

The Eagles' cross country teams close the week on the road at the Rock Ranch Invitational on Sept. 28.

 

Softball leads Rams

The Rams' softball team will be busy in its final week of the regular season, participating in four games.

The Rams start their 4-game stretch on the road Monday against Shiloh.

Newton's game against Morrow is set for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday before it hosts Cedar Shoals at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Lovejoy travels to Newton on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to end the season.

The Rams' volleyball team will take on a pair of in-county rivals to end its season, hosting Alcovy on Tuesday before traveling to Eastside on Thursday. Both matches begin at 5 p.m.

The varsity football team ends the week on the road against Langston Hughes at 7:30 p.m.
