Rankings stay steady heading into final week

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution AAAAAA state football ranking saw little movement last week, but the poll did see Peachtree Ridge reclaim a spot inside the top 10.

Colquitt County remained No. 1 in the state poll, defeating Coffee 31-15 on the road last week.

The Packers are 8-1 heading into the final week of the regular season with a road game against No. 7 Camden County.

The Packers are 5-4 all-time against Camden County, winning their last two contests by two combined points over the Wildcats.

Lovejoy remained at No. 2 in the state rankings after a bye week.

The Wildcats will travel to Sharp Stadium this week to take on the Alcovy Tigers to decide the Region 2 champion.

The Wildcats defeated Newton County rival Newton High 56-23 on Oct. 25.

The Wildcats defeated Alcovy 56-0 last season at home.

Former No. 1 North Gwinnett sits at No. 3 in this week's poll. The Bulldogs rebounded after their lone loss this season to Collins Hill with a 40-7 win over Mountain View.

The Bulldogs will host No. 10 Peachtree Ridge in their final game of the regular season this Friday.

Archer and Norcross round out the top five of the poll. Archer, the state's fourth-ranked program, finished its first undefeated season in school history with a 34-21 victory over Grayson on Friday. The fifth-ranked Norcross Blue Devils were off last week, but finish their regular season this Friday on the road at Meadowcreek.

The No. 6 Collins Hill Eagles captured a 49-14 win over Duluth on Friday for their eighth win of the season, while Camden County stayed at No. 7 with a 28-7 home victory over Lowndes.

The win over Lowndes sets up a Region 1 title contest against Colquitt County next week.

McEachern earned the eighth spot in this week's poll, defeating Harrison 42-13 last week. The Indians face Hillgrove this week in their season finale.

Hughes and Peachtree Ridge rounded out the poll at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.

The Peachtree Ridge Lions will travel to North Gwinnett and are 1-8 all-time against the Bulldogs.

The Georgia High School Associated Press football poll was not available at press time.
