MONTICELLO, Ga. —Piedmont Academy will welcome a new head football coach with a good amount of Georgia High School Association experience for the 2018 season.

Mike Parris was named Piedmont’s head coach, bringing with him 23 years of GHSA head coaching experience where he compiled a 168-89 record at four schools, including Loganville, Heritage Conyers, Jackson — where he spent 17 seasons — and Forest Park.

Parris also served as athletic director at Jackson High, and has a well-decorated coaching resume that includes several region coach of the year honors and six region crowns while coaching 17 all-state performers and two Atlanta Journal Constitution Super 11 athletes.

While at Forest Park, Parris coached NFL legend and former Georgia Bulldogs star Hines Ward.

He’ll take over a Cougars football program that finished 1-10 last season while competing in the Georgia Independent School Association.
