COVINGTON, Ga. — Due to inclement weather, all Saturday activities for Newton County Schools will be cancelled, including all sports games, according to a tweet from the Newton County Schools Twitter account. 

In addition, Friday night’s Druid Hills at Eastside girls and boys basketball games will also be cancelled. Also, Newton’s boys basketball team’s trip to Memphis this weekend for the Memphis vs. ATL Basketball Showcase has been cancelled.

A mixture of rain, sleet and snow is expected to cover much of the metro Atlanta area suburbs throughout the day Friday and into the early Saturday morning hours. 

Falling temperatures will raise some concerns for overnight and early Saturday morning icing on roads.
