Mark Grace, Juan Pierre Mike Hampton, J.D. Drew and Cody Rasmus all played together in Major League Baseball, but earlier in their careers they all represented another league - Dixie Leuage.
Grace, a 16-year major league veteran and four-time Gold Glove winner, Pierre a World Series winner, Hampton a two-time All-Star, Drew an All-Star and World Series champion and Rasmus, an Olympic gold medal winner were once young players competing throughout the South in events such as the one coming to Newton County Aug. 1.
The Dixie Boys World Series makes its fifth appereance in Newton County in just a few short weeks, and spectators will ahve the chance to see future stars, such as Hampton, Drew, Pierre, Buster Posey and others before they go on to sign lucrative contracts.
Twelve teams, the best from 11 states that play Dixie Boys baseball, will compete for the 13, 14-year old national championship at City Pond Field.
