With a scoring outburst against rival Newton Saturday afternoon, Eastside senior guard Anthony Henderson earned the Eagles' Athlete of the Week nod, helping Eastside defeat the Rams 58-49.
Henderson scored 20 points in the rivalry win, while draining four 3-pointers againt the Rams.
Henderson had struggled in the Eagles previous contests, but came back with a vengence against the Eagles' chief rival.
“I kept believing,” Henderson said. “I had a couple (of) rough games, but I came back with a positive attitude.”
The win allowed the Eagles to split with the Rams this season after Newton took the opening game of the season series at Eastside.
Henderson combined with teammate Treyvon Francis for 32 of the Eagles' 58 points.
Eastside returns to action this week on the road Friday in region play at Chestatee at 8:30 p.m.
The Eagles return to action at home on Jan. 24 against Johnson.
