Game time was delayed because Eagle’s Landing arrived late, but it was the Lady Eagles that were rusty losing 71-37 to Eagle’s Landing.
Eagle’s Landing’s Jessica Starr scored off an Eastside turnover for the first points of the night. The Eagle Landing defense gave the lady Eagles problems and it led to a 10-0 Eagle Landing lead in the first three minutes.
It was a turnover fest for Eastside. Eagle’s Landing scored six straight off Lady Eagle turnovers to build a 16-0 lead with 3:46 to play in the first quarter, before Eastside’s DeKariah Kelly was able to hit two free throws after an Eagle’s Landing technical foul.
The Lady Eagles only two first quarter field goals were from Destine Smith and Teirra Brown as Eagle’s Landing led Eastside 18-8 after the opening quarter.
Starr opened the second quarter with an and-one to start a 14-0 run for Eagle’s Landing that ended on two free throws from Sydney Mask. The Lady Eagles trailed 42-14 at the half.
The second half was slow for both teams, but Eastside was outscored 9-4 in the first four minutes. The Lady Eagles played well toward the end of the third, but were down 56-22 entering the fourth quarter.
