With the 2012-13 regular season coming down the home stretch, both Eastside girls' and boys' teams sit atop the Region 8-AAAA standings.
The Lady Eagles picked up a big win Friday night in a matchup against two unbeaten teams in league play as they hosted Chestatee.

Eastside won 45-44 behind Jymara Smith's 16 and Jazzmine Cook's 12 points.

Eastside and Stephens County are now the only two unbeaten teams in region play with a matchup being the Lady Eagles' next 8-AAAA contest. Eastside hosted Henry County Saturday before hosting Stephens County Tuesday.

Meagan Keniner led Chestatee with 18 points and Samantha Brown added 15 as the War Eagles snapped a three-game winning streak. In Friday's nightcap, the Eastside boys' team also picked up a big region win, defeating Chestatee 71-69.

The Eagles are now 4-0 in region play, unbeaten along with Johnson. It was the sixth straight win for Eastside, which played Henry County in a non-region tilt that ended before press time.
The Eagles travel to Johnson Friday.
