Two Milledgeville men were jailed last week on drug charges after authorities allegedly witnessed them mistake the I-20 exit ramp on Sigman Road for the Waffle House entrance.
Authorities reported seeing the car exit I-20 east and cross the bridge before making a right onto the I-20 west exit ramp around 3am on Jan. 11. The driver then allegedly realized his error and made a u-turn on the ramp with deputies in pursuit. The vehicle pulled into the Texaco station, where they were confronted by deputies and subsequently arrested.
According to the arrest report, the two suspects smelled heavily of marijuana and seemed nervous and impaired. The driver, Casio Bonner, 32, of Milledgeville, allegedly told deputies he was coming from the mall area and was attempting to go to the Waffle House but accidentally turned onto the interstate exit ramp. The passenger, Brandon Hill, 21, also of Milledgeville, gave the same story when questioned by another deputy who had arrived on the scene to assist.
Upon searching the Mitsubishi Gallant driven by Bonner, authorities allegedly found several buds of marijuana throughout the vehicle and a shoe box containing half a pound of marijuana shrink wrapped in a bag in the trunk. Bonner was allegedly in possession of $692 cash when he was arrested.
The driver was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession and use of drug related objects.
