As a residence was burning, its owner tossed rocks at emergency personnel trying to put out a trailer fire at Lakeview Estates.

A Rockdale County Sheriff's Office deputy responded to the call of a fire located at 17 Alma Lane at approximately 11:11 a.m. on Wednesday. When he arrived, he noticed flames coming from the trailer along with a white female sitting across from it saying something he couldn't understand.

The deputy moved the woman to a safe distance and prepared for the arrival of an EMT. When the EMT arrived, the deputy had to place the woman, identified as Sherry Allen Fortner, 48, under arrest for attacking, spitting and throwing rocks at the fire fighters and EMTs.

According to reports, "she was throwing rocks at the burning house and prevented them from doing their jobs."

Fortner was arrested for willful interference with emergency medical professionals - a misdemeanor- and placed under a $2,000 bond.

Fortner had reportedly told emergency personnel the fire started while she was making methamphetamines; however, fire and sheriff's office investigators found no evidence of this upon investigation. Deputies also reportedly did not find drugs or drug paraphenalia on her person.

Wednesday's fire ended with a complete loss of Fortner's residence, which was next to the lake and relatively isolated from other residences nearby.

According to RCSO Crime Analyst Michael Camp, Fortner had lanterns for lighting purposes, since her trailer didn't have electricity or water, and she had a small fire had reportedly started outside of her trailer in the past.
