Woman arrested for illegal dentistry

A Conyers woman was recently arrested for allegedly practicing dentistry in her home without a license.

Kessia Curtis, 33, was arrested on August 18 at her residence located at 2110 Fairway Court, where police had been called on suspicion of illegal dentistry being practiced. According to the police report, Curtis opened the door wearing a surgical mask and claimed she was "just clipping someone's braces wire" and "not doing anything illegal.

Curtis claimed she works as travelling orthodontic assistant with Strait Orthodontics, which she said was in Atlanta but she couldn't provide the address. Curtis allegedly showed officers her equipment stored in bags used when she travels on the job

The report stated some type of dental machine had been plugged into the wall and covered with a sheet when the officer arrived had been moved to the closet when the investigator arrived. Curtis claimed the machine was given to her but was broken.

Curtis was booked into the Rockdale County jail and charged with one count of practicing dentistry without license.
