After leading the Heritage football team to an unprecedented finish, coach Chad Frazier was named Region 8-AAAA Coach of the Year on Tuesday.

After leading the Heritage football team to an unprecedented finish, Chad Frazier was named Region 8-AAAA Coach of the Year on Tuesday. Then on Friday defensive lineman Ryan Watson was named defensive player of the year.

The fifth-year Heritage High football coach led the Patriots to several firsts, including a region championship.
The Patriots finished 10-2, the most wins in school history, earned a co-championship in region play and was the school's first ever No. 1 seed in football.
After defeating Rome in the first round of the playoffs, Heritage fell to Ware County. However, the season continues to be a success with Frazier's recognition.
"The expectation level probably just went up," Frazier said. "It feels good it's good to be recognized,
especially by your peers."
Watson helped lead the Patriots' defense, which held opponents to just 8.4 points per game. Heritage also had shutouts against Rockdale and Winder-Barrow en rout to its first 11-win season.
Watson was one of 10 Heritage players selected to the All-Region 8-AAAA team on Friday.
Selected to the first team were running back Quami Stanley and lineman Harrison Baize on offense, and linebackers Dustyn Moore and Chase Alford, defensive back Jamaal Lane and kicker Harrison Kulp on defense.
The Patriots also had three players selected to the second team in offensive lineman Brenton Wilson, defensive linemen Bryan Taylor and Larry Jones and linebacker Dominique Packer.
Rockdale, which finished 1-9, placed three players on the All-region team. Defensive lineman Larry Jones and defensive back Nick Coggins were named to the second team, while defensive lineman Anthony Adams earned honorable mention.
